With all the rain, we’re seeing some lawn issues that we don’t observe very often. One such problem is yellow areas in normally green lawns.
The Extension Turfgrass Specialist with Colorado State University, Dr. Tony Koski, wrote a wonderful article on the topic titled, “Does Your Bluegrass Have the Yellows?” It summarizes all the possible culprits, ranging from rapid growth to iron chlorosis. He then discusses what to do about each problem. I was surprised to discover that such a simple issue can have very different causes.
If you’re facing this problem, Dr. Koski’s article is certainly worth a read. We’re really lucky in Colorado to have such a professional and knowledgeable turfgrass specialist. Enjoy!
